A 24-year-old man from Hinckley was later arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.
He has since been released under investigation.
Detective constable Will Musson, the investigating officer, said: “We are keeping an open mind as to whether the car made deliberate contact with the motorcycle.
“Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and we would like anyone who has not yet spoken to police to come forward.
“I would like to speak to anyone who was driving along the A47 on Saturday afternoon and saw what happened, or saw either vehicle prior to the collision occurring.
“I am particularly keen to speak to anyone with a dashcam installed in their vehicle.
“Please cast your mind back. Any information you have could help with my investigation.”
