LUCTONIANS head coach Ryan Watkins is aware of the ‘huge game’ their opponents face when they travel to Otley on Saturday.

Watkins’ side has the opportunity to move further clear of third from bottom Otley, but their opponents will be fighting for their league survival.

“It’s an absolutely huge game for them and if they lose they will be staring relegation in the face,” said Watkins.

“If they beat us it will give them a massive boost of hope. We will concentrate on ourselves and if we get the result right we can climb up the table.

“There are four of five teams above us that we could catch and it’s close in the bottom half.”

Last weekend Luctonians suffered a 48-10 defeat at promotion hopefuls Fylde.

The hosts ran over seven tries to Rob Lewis’ only try score in reply.

However, Watkins’ says his side weren’t helped by some questionable refereeing decisions.

“They are a good team and we didn’t do a few things ourselves to help,” added Watkins.

“The referee also had a poor afternoon so it was a combination of things. They (Fylde) are a good team attacking wise and going forward they are a hard team to stop.

“We didn’t do what we had planned to try and stop them and I don’t think the boys gave a fair reflection of themselves.

“However, I think there was two or three times the referee could have given us a decision in an attacking position.

“We didn’t get them that is tough to swallow as if we don’t score then we end up defending.”
